Services I Offer

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese Medicine used to regulate and restore the balance of the body in order to assist and accelerate the healing process.  It is based on traditional Chinese theories; the flow of qi (energy) and xue (blood) through meridians or pathways that cover the body, somewhat like nerves and blood vessels.  According to this theory, when one or more of these pathways is blocked, illness pursues… or when there is an imbalance of energy, illness follows.

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points shown to be effective in the treatment of many health conditions. Acupuncture involves sterilized disposable needles used in specific acupuncture points located on meridians. Each acupuncture meridian is associated with a particular physiological organ system. Like streams flowing along the body, the meridians traverse from the surface of the skin and connect to the depths of an organ system.

The Chinese have an ancient maxim: “when there is pain, there is no free flow… when there is free flow, there is no pain”.

Like non-flowing water in a stream, Qi stagnation can lead to pain or organ dysfunction. An acupuncture treatment can free the Qi that has become stuck. Likewise, where Qi is deficient, acupuncture can increase the flow of Qi.

Acupuncture promotes relaxation, balance and health.  Acupuncture promotes blood circulation.   Acupuncture treatments give patients a radiant healthy glow.  Acupuncture benefits professionals who have stressful careers.  Acupuncture reduces pain.  Acupuncture restores feeling grounded.  Acupuncture boosts the immune system.  Acupuncture is also used as preventative medicine for defense against long term stress and the flu season.

Actual acupuncture sessions may vary from 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the nature of the individual and treatment protocol. Clients are encouraged to wear loose clothing. During an acupuncture session, a client may feel some tingling, like an electrical current moving along the meridians. Most people gain tranquility through acupuncture while some fall asleep during their treatment.

Acupuncture is a safe medical procedure with no harmful side effects. all acupuncture needles are sterile, single use, disposable needles.

In recent times, many scientific studies have established the validity of acupuncture. The National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledge that acupuncture treatment can effectively treat a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions.  Furthermore, acupuncture is known to provide quality effective healthcare that results in a healthier well being.

Acupoint Injection Therapy

Acupoint Injection Therapy (AIT), is an integrative therapy that blends the best of Chinese Medicine with conventional and homeopathic medicine.

Think of it as super acupuncture. Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy is the injection of saline, homeopathic substances, vitamins, or Chinese herbs into acupuncture points or trigger points. The injection will stimulate the acupuncture points for a much longer period of time, thus enhancing the therapeutic effect.
This technique can be very effective in treating chronic conditions such as allergies, chronic pains that even cortisone shots do not help, fibromyalgia, migraines, low back pain, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, thumb pain, heel pain (plantar fasciitis), knee pain, shoulder pain, muscle spasm, inflammation, fatigue, vitamin deficiency and many other diseases. It is also effective in treating chronic auto-immune conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Dr. Prunean is certified by state of Florida to perform this technique and she uses the thinnest needles available on market for the injections.
Cupping

The ancient art of cupping is a multicultural tradition that will never be lost. It’s a suction technique that not only relieves wind chill from the body’s surface, but also pulls toxin build up, muscle spasm, and stagnation from the body’s deeper tissue to the surface of the skin.

Simultaneously, cupping vitalizes and restores proper blood flow by pulling fresh blood into blocked area. This technique can show the kind of problem we are dealing with as well as its location and severity. It breaks up obstructions and creates an avenue for toxins to be released. It is used for sore muscles, neck pain, tension, deep tissue and myofascial release, soft tissue injuries, sport injuries, sprains, broken bones, paralysis, post stroke, and the common cold.

The doctor will place a special glass cup over specific areas on your body, creating a vacuum under the cup with heat or suction. The cup may be moved over an affected area or left in place. Cupping could cause small, circular bruises where the cups were applied, which disappear within a few days.

In some cases, a small amount of blood letting (vein pricking) is done first, using a pricking needle, and then the cup is applied over the site. This technique is said to promote blood circulation, remove stasis, and alleviate swelling and pain.

“Don’t be afraid to question about it and give it a try! It’s an awesome way to detox your body! Much suffering can be easily relieved, and even prevented with this old healing tradition!” (Camy Prunean)

Dietary Therapy

Traditional Chinese medical dietary therapy has been in practice for thousands of years in China.   Modern science has only recently realized what has been a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries – the importance of diet.

Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that health exists when the human body is in a harmonious state. Upsetting the balance of the body results in disease.

One of the famous Chinese Classics wrote in the 6th century  that “A true doctor first finds out the cause of the disease, and having found that out, he tries to cure it first by food.”

It’s very important to understand the properties of food and their affects on health as well the use of food for preserving health and preventing and treating illnesses.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, food itself is a remedy. How much and when to take food should be dictated by the nature of the body. Simply speaking, this means eating healthy food in a healthy manner.

According with your body condition, Dr. Prunean can advise you what to add in your diet as well as what you should avoid, in order to be and feel healthy.

Herbal Therapy

Chinese herbal medicine can be used to expedite the healing process, as well as strengthen, support and tonify the body. The formulas have the capacity to address the underlying root cause of various medical conditions, whether acute or chronic. Chinese herbal medicine is a safe, effective and drug free way to become and stay healthy, naturally. Contact us for your customized treatment and start on the path to health and well being.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a completely safe ancient Chinese healing technique. It is performed to treat many acute and chronic health issues as skin rejuvenation (aka facial gua aha), systemic toxicity, poor circulation, colds, flu, fever, indigestion, dizziness, joint pain, fibromyalgia, physical and emotional stress, headaches and migraines etc. Gua Sha healing promotes the flow of Qi (energy) and blood throughout the body for overall health.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is performed with an herb called mugwort. It may be burned on the handle of the needle, used alone and held above the skin, or put on top of salt or ginger and placed over the skin. Using this technique the doctor “warms up” the acupuncture points and specific meridians in order to quicken the healing process.

Tui Na

Tui Na, which means “pushing grasping,” is the name commonly used for Chinese Medical Massage. It is used to release muscle pain, tension, and inflammation and to heal injuries. One of Tui Na’s advantages over simple massage is its ability to focus on specific problems, especially chronic pain associated with the muscles, joints, and skeletal system. It’s especially effective for joint pain (such as arthritis), sciatica, muscle spasms, and pain in the back, neck, and shoulders. It also helps chronic conditions such as insomnia, constipation, headaches (including migraines), and stress-related tension.
